Hoka
Hoka was started on a wild idea by Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard, who also formerly worked for Salomon as the head of its now-defunct design center in Boulder and later as its CEO. Originally, the intent was to make modern trail running shoes for the rugged mountain races in the Alps, Pyrenees and Dolomites. The widebody design concept was somewhat based on the oversized technology that had been successfully used in powder skis, mountain bike tires and tennis rackets. A bigger sweet spot, Mermoud suggested, would apply similarly in running. It's a difference you have to feel to believe.

SAS
The story of the San Antonio Shoemakers™(SAS) family begins with its founders, Terry Armstrong and Lew Hayden. The two first met in Pittsfield, Maine, but their passion for making quality footwear led them to San Antonio, Texas.
Today, they continue to handcraft their shoes from only the softest, highest quality leather. Just one pair of shoes may go through up to 100 different steps. There are 14 primary operations that take place in our factories like leather selection, die-making, cutting, lasting and more. Within those operations, approximately 80 different skilled pairs of hands are carefully constructing and inspecting each shoe to make sure the SAS shoes you choose are the best made pair of footwear in your closet.

Comfort engineering is at the heart of how they design and build Samuel Hubbard shoes. They start by taking the time to develop perfect fitting lasts.
